I’m Caroline Kell. Founder of Blak Wattle Coaching. I come from a long line of rainforest people from Herberton and Atherton in Far North Queensland. I’m a proud Mbarbrum woman yet was born and raised on Kulin lands on Naarm (Melbourne).
Like many other Indigenous families, my family and I grew up as survivors of the system. Living in poverty, we navigated issues such as grief, loss, trauma and family violence.
These experiences of hardship taught me and my family the power and strength of Indigenous Communities and ancient knowledge systems,. Coming together with purpose, to care for each other, our kin, the land.
I felt inspired to embark on my own healing journey, leading me to complete a bachelor degree in Social Science and becoming a fully qualified Counsellor.
I am deeply passionate about social emotional wellbeing of Indigenous people and the power and strength that is drawn from healthy vibrant communities.
For the past 6 years I have worked in senior Indigenous leadership and executive roles within government, non-government and Aboriginal community controlled health organisations.
Some major milestones include:
Helping to oversee first of its kind Treaty discussions in Australia.
Playing an integral role in the Victorian Aboriginal COVID-19 response
Overseeing the development of Balit Durn Durn, Victorian Aboriginal Communities’ response to the Mental Health Royal Commission.
Using my unique combination of lived and professional experience, I empower individuals, teams, and organisations to master their mindset and become even bolder and more confident leaders!
With my help, they become strong business owners, CEOs and team players who have faith in their own skills and abilities. Nothing makes me prouder than watching my clients and community members transform their lives and reach new heights.
